Most members have personal projects to develop, either with the assistance of other members, or through using the tools, space and equipment available at the workshop.

However, Mohua MenzShed is keen to support the Golden Bay community, as it has in turn been supported. To that end, members also complete projects, on request; these would normally be projects or work that would not be completed by local tradesman, since they would usually be done at charitable rates.

The Mohua MenzShed charter states that it will not compete with local tradies for work.

Apart from making predator traps and picnic benches for TDC, the Mohua MenzShed has also been involved in jobs such as refurbishing the bench at Clifton Cemetery, or repairing benches in Tākaka. A more complete listing of Community Projects completed are listed below.

Projects completed prior to 2022

  1. Large planter boxes for placement outside GB High School on behalf of TDC
  2. Penguin boxes for the Penguin Trust

Projects completed During 2022

  1. Bird hide for Forest and Bird erected on the coast west of Collingwood.
  2. Predator trap boxes (50) assembled for Ramika Project.
  3. Pedestrian ramps at the GB Work Centre replaced/upgraded and made safe.
  4. Guidance given – to an out-of-town person who wanted to have a memorial seat placed at the Rototai Cemetery in memory of a family member.
  5. The Langford store counter was re-constructed for a GB Museum display.
  6. A dog kennel run was assembled for a local Takaka Trust
  7. Set up display frames for the Quilters at their annual show in Collingwood.
  8. Clifton Cemetery seat upgraded for TDC Reserves.
  9. Galvanised shed base rebuilt for the Takaka Trash Palace.
  10. Four wooden BBQ tables were designed, pre-cut and assembled for the TDC.
  11. Flag marshals provided for the Old Thumpers vintage motorcycle Motorcross.

  1. Village Theatre floor renovated, seats removed, floor washed, two coats of paint applied.
  2. Four owl boxes were made for Milnthorpe Park.
  3. Flag marshals provided for the Old Thumpers vintage motorcycle Motorcross.
  4. Construction of six heavy-duty BBQ Tables for the TDC.
  5. Two members presented a Mohua MenzShed talk at the local Friendship Club.
  6. Eighty wooden bird profiles were made for the local branch of Forest & Bird for later painting.
  7. Eighty Predator Trap Boxes were made for Project DeVine.
  8. A member’s shed roof was upgraded.
  9. Golden Kids kindergarten Wendy house was repaired/upgraded.
  10. Local RDA Horse ramp was repaired and upgraded.
